Developing SW and HW IPs for HSPA+

IPG has a strong focus on WCDMA/HSPA/HSPA+ modem design. We provide software/hardware IPs and engineering services to chipset companies.

Software Defined Radio (SDR)

Software defined radio is a revolutionary technology getting mature quickly in commercial mobile system. It significantly reduces the development cycle by removing long and laborious hardware design and verification stage, provides unparallel flexibility even after the product is made, and provides capability of multi-mode radio for different communication standards. IPG consider SDR a disruptive technology which is going to enable the communication IP market and significantly reduce the cost of development of large and complex communication system.

HSPA+ modem

IPG has extensive experience in physical layer design of HSPA+ modem. We are developing an HSPA+ modem IP that covers 3GPP Release 8 standard, which includes many advanced features like MIMO, 64QAM, etc. Chip level equalizer is a critical part of the entire HSPA+ receiver design. Our design provides a unified solution to handle all use-cases. It has been designed with excellent performance and outperforms the rake receiver in both high and low signal to noise ratios. The computational complexity is kept low by innovative architecture designs.

Turbo Decoder

Turbo decoder occupies significant part of the complexity of the entire modem. It also directly impacts the highest data throughput an HSPA+/LTE system can support. IPG has designed a dual mode turbo decoder combining HSPA+ and LTE system together. It greatly reduced the memory and logic complexity compared with two separate decoders. A proprietary architecture is designed to reduce the power consumption while keeping the performance close to an ideal decoder.
